Banjo Australis / under the Milky Way /

Banjo Australis /
Compact disc. Ian Simpson and John Kane have played music together for over 30 years. These days Ian lives in Perth and John in Sydney so it is harder for them to actually sit down and play, but when they do it is like pulling on a really comfortable old pair of shoes. A quick strum of that old open G chord and they're away! On the Golden Guitar winning "The Banjo", Ian and John played classic banjo tunes. However this time they have made a record of all Australian tunes. The banjo has always been a very popular instrument in Australia featuring in the sound of iconic performers like The Seekers and Slim Dusty, and in soundtracks like Rush and Skippy, plus of course in traditional music. Ian and John took a cross section of tunes across time and genre and the result is a very interesting repertoire of Australian banjo music.
