Aurora "Roe" Teagarden, a librarian in the Atlanta suburb of Lawrenceton, is adjusting to widowhood when she discovers that her former boyfriend, Robin Crusoe, is back in town. The two collaborated to catch a serial killer in the series debut, Real Murders (1990). Robin, a true-crime writer, has sold his book about those murders to a studio making a television movie. When the cast and crew arrive to film on location, Roe becomes the object of unwanted attention because of her role in solving the crime. The stepson who despises her is a cast member, and the starlet playing her is ambitious and rude. When the actress turns up dead, Aurora must find the killer before she becomes the next victim.
