Summary Note |
Langdon tells Miriam about the woman who he built her to resemble, the woman who raised him - a ruthless Satanist who was nevertheless devoted to young Langdon. Meanwhile, the newly-arrived witches Cordelia, Madison and Myrtle reveal to Mallory, Dinah and Coco their true identities as fellow powerful witches, meant to battle Langdon for the fate of the world; Cordelia had placed a spell on them to make them forget their identities, for their own safety. Three years before the bomb: What we now know as "Outpost Three" was once the Hawthorne School for Exceptional Young Men. There, a coven of warlocks are looking for one who will become the "Alpha" and supplant Cordelia as the Supreme - and they think it may be Langdon, though they're not sure if he's truly a warlock or if he's possessed by a demon. Langdon is recruited by their leader, Ariel Augustus, though contrarian warlock John Henry Moore is sceptical. They test Langdon to see if he's an extremely rare level four warlock. He exceeds all expectations, but Moore thinks his fellow warlocks should be afraid of their new charge. Meanwhile, at Miss Robichaux's Academy for witches in New Orleans, Mallory is learning witchcraft from Cordelia and the others--and she's clearly a powerful witch. When the Hawthorne School summon a council meeting with the witches, they announce they believe Langdon is the new Supreme--the first male Supreme ever--and demand Cordelia administer the test of the Seven Wonders. Cordelia refuses...so Langdon attempts to succeed at a task at which Cordelia had failed--her self-admitted greatest failure--and tries to go her one better in the process. |
